Kaixin – Host, Founder
Kaixin (kai-sheen) is the founder of WDTA Podcast and a current high school senior. During the Shanghai lockdown in early 2022, Kaixin started this podcast at home. It has evolved into a social and political commentary of all the news she is most enthralled by at the moment. She is deeply interested in social justice issues and political transparency. Her goal for this podcast is to increase communication and awareness of issues that she believes are ignored by the mainstream. Kaixin was born in Shanghai but raised in Irvine, California. She has a golden retriever named Sunny.
Sammie
Sammie is a high school senior living in Shanghai, China. She is from Summit, New Jersey. Sammie was first inspired to get involved in the WDTA podcast after being a longtime listener of political and news-oriented podcasts. The Daily, Work in Progress, and NPR’s Up First are some of the shows she has in her daily rotation. Sammie wants to show other high schoolers that no matter how young you are there is always space in political activism for you.
